campsite near caen port

hi,

We are looking for a campsite close to Caen or Ouistreham for a stop over in August. We roll off the ferry after 9pm. Have tried to book onto Les Haute Coutures but they are operating a 2 night minimum stay.

Eurocamp advised us to stay at the port, which we dont really fancy and i have looked at Les Pommiers campsite but its reviews are not good.

Just wondered if anyone has used this ferry over Easter or half term and can offer any advice.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Dawn

I would use Les Pommiers its not great but perfectly ok for a night halt and is walking distance from the docks. I will be there later this month.

Depending on the route you are taking you could try Chateau Martragny on N13 about 8 mins from Caen peripherique. I would say it would take about 20 mins from Docks but there are no gates to the site so just in case your ferry docks late you can just turn up, park on the top end of the drive and connect up to electric. You can then pay the following morning. We called in last August and there were only a few pitches taken. Just make sure you have your torches handy.
