campsites in the south of France

Thinking of going south of France September this year any body know of any sites with direct access to beach/or within close proximaty.Probably going mid September.

We have been to this site several times as my husband is a keen windsurfer and enjoys this on the large lakes at Leucate. I cannot fault Camping Brasillia at all; direct access to beach and all the shops/facilities needed. The only problem we encounter is is we want to eat at restaurants not on the site you do have to use your car. It is quite a long walk into Canet.

Can recommend without reservation the campsite la sablonnes at portiragnese plage . On the beach, quality site, lots of off site activities including nearby village for the evening but the site itself has a brilliant beach complex, by the beach location ( no travelling ot queues)and excellent on site facilities. The pitches are level, easy access and large. The website address is http://www.les-sablons.com/camping/accueil.html

if you want more information please ask as i have returned several times.

We've stayed at Le Boucanet, near Grau du Roi (La Grande Motte), which is lovely. There are beachside pitches, available with a small supplement, but plenty should be available in mid-September (they have their own website, try google). You can use Camping Cheques, which brings the cost down to

David,

Never been to this site although did consider it a couple of years back. It is listed in The Caravan Club Travel Service brochure. Camping Brasilia, near Perpignan, it has direct access to beach.

Brasilia closes for winter 30Sept.

But a good, although large site. Many services open all the time the site is open. Adjacent beach. GOOD

There is a site at Argeles Plage (on the Med near the Spanish border).

Have a look at their site to see if it is of interest to you.

Hi David

If you have an ACSI card you could concider "Camping de la Plage" Sainte-Marie-en-Roussillon, north of Perpignan.

We overnighted there in March 2005 but I had a wander round and the site has it's own exits onto a grand beach, it is adjacent to a village with all the necessaries.
