Can Audi A4 Avant tow superstorm?

Hi

I have an Audi A4 1.9 TDi Avant and have been offered an Elddis 1990 Crusader superstorm.The current owner informs me that the towing weight of this caravan is approx 1200kg unladen so can I safely pull this van with my car?

you will be able to tow it, but not at its full capacity,if im not mistaken the superstorm is around the 1560 kgs mark fully laden(1260 unladen)not a good match really but towable with care.

85%(guide only) of 14450 kgs is just under 1200 kgs(which is less than the unladen weight of the van lets face it, its not that good of a match is it,you can tow at 100%(1450)or the manufactures towing limit(1500)its up to you

Hi

I checked the website you suggested and with all factors considered it came out at 113%. I think may be a bit high but as I am new to cvaravanning I am not sure. What if I was to load the van a bit lighter?

I was planning to keep the van on a site and only tow it occasionally. How would it be if I kept the loading down in the van?

I don't know much about the old Superstorm but the new one has a MIRO of 1616kg and a gross of 1900kg which is well above the towing capability of an Audi A4. I would have thought that the older van would not be that much lighter.

Yes we have decided that it was just not practical or safe to tow the superstorm with the A4 so we are now looking for a smaller 5 berth van that will suit the A4 better.
