Can I Get An Inner Tube for Jockey Wheel?

Anyone know where I can buy a new inner tube for my pneumatic jockey wheel?

Seems most dealers only sell the entire wheel, tyre and tube as a complete unit and they are not interested in stocking component parts! I know we live in a throw away society? but what a waste of a good tyre and wheel just because I can't buy a new tube.

I have tried mending the puncture but the damage is so close to the valve that it is impossible to repair.

Rioja...thanks for the suggestion but the tear, around the valve seal is really to big (half inch across, along the seam) most probably faulty in the first place! But, the wheel is a year old so no chance of taking it back for an exchange.

My local independent tyre dealer was only too happy to oblige. Only problem was that the valve stem on the replacement extended further than the original and fouled the inside of the fork that the wheel fits in between. Solved that by inserting a couple of thick washers on the valve side of the axle/bolt as shims. Hope that makes sense.

I don`t know your home area but when I needed a new jockey wheel tyre last year I was visiting a very large and well known auto jumble at Rufforth near York (its on the first Sat. of every month) and there was a stall selling new red plastic wheels with tyre and tube for

Crusader...cheers for the idea. I don't have any old tubes of silicone, so it might not be cost effective to go out and buy it. If I can't buy a new tube I will most probably end up with a complete new wheel (about

After 2 inner tubes gave up on our powerwheel we removed the valve, squirted a couple of spoonfulls of water into it and then 'injected' a few seconds burst of B&Q expanding foam gap filler.

Next the valve cap was replaced and the wheel was rotated for a couple of minutes.

We repeated this several times over a short period and when the tyre started to feel firm left it alone for 24 hours.

Now we have a sollid wheel but it seems to work ok and has lasted over a year so far

. . . . . buying the inner tube there . . be fine on grass or a C.L. . . . . . . . but what about a hard standing ? To be serious though - what a fascinating range of ideas. Heath-Robinson is alive and well and has a caravan.
