can i paint wash hand basin

I have a coachman amara which has a badly stained wash basin which I think is make of plastic Is there a paint I can brush or spray which will cover it?

I doubt paint will stay on, I polished mine first with T-Cut scratch remover and finished and sealed it with a Silicone based car polish, worked a treat and it still looks good after three years!
