Can I take tourer to Channel Isles?

Can I take my caravan to Jersey or Guernsey? Couldnt find this info out on the ferry websites - they have an automated enquiry service which involves you filling out a form for a quote. No caravan is mentioned, which made me think you perhaps cant take it. My dad said that in years past you couldnt take one across.

If you can now, what are the ferry companies that do this and what is an approx cost?

It depends which island you want to go to, you can take a tourer to Jersey but you have to book everything through to camp site and there are only about four caravan sites on Jersey.

I loked at taking my tourer but the cost was far to expensive.

Hope this helps

CARAVAN ON JERSEY 2 February 2004

Motorcaravans and caravanners will be permitted to drive freely around the island of Jersey for the first time ever, for a trial period from 1 March to 31 October 2004, though the permission comes with a condition. Camping outside campsites on the island is illegal and those with motorhomes are required to return to their designated campsite each night.

As with last year's trial, you must book a site and ferry crossing in advance to receive a permit to visit. All this can be arranged through the participating sites, whose allocations have been doubled for 2004, to allow 30 touring units per site. Size restrictions are: maximum length 9.3m, maximum width 2.3m (which includes any fitting on or attached to the vehicle but excludes mirrors and indicators). The island has many narrow roads, so caravanners are advised to exercise caution and plan ahead.

You can take your van to Jersey. There really are only two good sites to go to - Beuvelands Camp Site and Rozel Camping Park both in the St martin's area of jersey.

One of the best ways is to get a quote from the sites for the complete package (Ferry & Site) They get a concession from Condor Ferries. Getting to the Channel Islands is quite expensive. Plenty to see and do also easy to get to other Islands. If you go try and visit Herm for a day.

Hi Alyson,

I looked at this destination last year. It wasn't the cost that put me off, but the amount of time spent on the ferry. If you are only going for a week, you have lost half of it sitting on a boat. brian.f
