I don't want to economise on safety but at the same time don't want to pay a premium for these items. Any links to reasonable suppliers would be welcomed.

I'd take a look at your local supermarket - I bought our extinguisher and fire blanket in a Tesco Extra store.

Reading your posting, I suddenly thought wouldn't it be a good idea if fire awareness training coupled with how to use an extinguisher was offered for a sensible price...

Using the equipment is a different matter, and absolutely the worst time to learn is when you're faced with a real fire - especially how quickly the 1 kg of dry powder is used up in a domestic extinguisher...

I know business can buy fire awareness training, and I know these are expensive. So maybe the CC or C&CC or local fire service should consider offering such a service?

There are not lots of great bargains to be had nowadays on ebay, but I did get a very good price, I cannot remember how much but it was half of everywhere else and all OK, it was a few months back, for the fire prevention items , Lidle etc sometimes have good deals as well but you have to wait for them.

Hi Rob_Jax,

In the W.M.F.S. we have a comercial & Industrial training unit, for teaching the use of exinguishers, but like every one else we are suffering cut backs & therefore must charge for this service.

I was under the impression from several caravan forums that the general concensus from most caravanners is that a fire extinguisher is a waste of time and money. A fire in a caravan is likely take a good hold very quickly and a little extinguisher which generally lasts only around 10 seconds is therefore pretty useless.
