Away again with the caravan, this time for two weeks to Cornwall, specifically a site called Killiwerris near Truro.
A full days driving from west Oxfordshire, with a couple of rest stops, a slow down on the M5 near J 28, and then what I can only describe as “15 miles of driving like an Edwardian Governess” by an elderly lady in a Nissan Micra!
All set up on site now and further reports with a link to photos will follow in due course.
Over and out

Cheers…. This afternoon we went to Perranporth and spent an enjoyable few hours on the beach.
Perranporth beach is very nice, but the last time we were there the car park charges were eye watering. You either paid for half a day or a whole day. No such thing as parking for 1 or 2 hours. We have not been back mainly because of the A38 drive and every time we went to Cornwall it would lash down with rain even in the summer. LOL!

We parked at the top of the hill.
We initially paid for two hours but then extended it by an hour and a half and it cost us £6.80.
£8.60 would have paid for 9 hrs or more.
This morning the weather has closed in, low cloud and light mist/drizzle.

I can park on our friends drive. No parking charges and free B&B. Mind you Malbec and flowers aren’t cheap. 👍

The A38 hasn't been a good way to get to Cornwall for a long time - the A30 is the strategic route and has been progressively dualled over the years.

Maybe it is the A30 I am thinking about that goes from dual to single and back to dual. As said we have not been down that way since about 2006.

The A38 is tje primary route for South Devon , not Cornwall.
Three weeks ago I can tell you the A30 all dual carriageway from Exeter to at least Camborne.
A well built fast flowing road including us caravanners! But 40 years too late 🤪

Lovely pictures of the Cathedral inside and out (y)
Thanks,
Truro Cathedral is a young cathedral by standards……

We also went back to Perranporth beach ( added a few more snaps).

The road from St Austell to Mevagissey has several camping sites on it,the one we use is called Little Winnick, it's just after London Apprentice but before Pentewan,on the site there are good clean amenities, dog friendly and a play area for kids,no bar however a mobile catering van and mobile coffee van turn up on certain days,,, the owners are pleasant and helpful

Nipped into Falmouth this morning for a look around and found that 2 Bay Class Royal Navy ships were moored up:
L3009 Cardigan Bay and L3008 Mounts Bay, Landing ship docks.
Skies were grey but we wandered around nevertheless and as is my want I took a few more photos and added them to the gallery.
We are going back there during this holiday to take a boat trip across to St Mawes if the weather is agreeable.

RFA Cardigan Bay has recently returned from a 4 year Gulf deployment and assisted in helping to install that US floating jetty into Gaza. They are worked hard and in to Falmouth for major refit and modernisation. Meanwhile RFA Argus In Portsmouth has had her safety certificate withdrawn by LLoyds Register and MCA. So it will be sometime before she sails to Falmouth for a long overdue refit. My moneys on a one way trip to Turkey, or similar.
