We currently have a 2001 Audi A6 1.8T with a kerbweight of 1500kg. We like Abbey Aventura 330 (6 berth) but are concerned about the MTPLM of 1454kg. However the MIRO is only 1229kg. The 85% weight of the car is 12750kg leaving a payload of 45kg. This seems a little low and unrealistic. However if we increased the limit to 87% that would give a payload of 85kg. Is this a realistic payload bearing in mind there are only 2 adults and 2 children? I plan to have the awning in the car to reduce the weight in the caravan. How do others find this model as a towcar? Our seong choice is the Aventura 316 which is only slightly lighter at MIRO of 1197kg. Suggestions welcome.

Where did you get that figure of 1380kg for the max. towload from, Paul? My information is that the Audi A6 1.8T has a max. permissible towload of 1500kg.

Thanks for the advice. I am hoping that by puting the awning (which is heavy and compact) in the car that will leave me more room in the caravan for the lighter more bulky things. If necessary I can always use a roof box for additional space. Can anyone give me an idea of the weight of a suitable awning?
