Does anyone use on of those sheepskin mops attached to drill, to buff, polish their motor? As I am getting on in years I think this will be a good help to me.

I have used one but not any longer. Need to be careful when polishing around body creases as it is easy to take off the paint.

I have a polishing machine ( a £15 Lidl special deal) rather than a drill, it has a reciprocating action, it buffs up Polish very well, but be careful not to use anything abrasive. I find Auto-Glym Super Resin Polish to be very good

The guy that does my valeting has such a polisher but only uses it when preparing new cars, to get rid of manufacturing blemishes - he doesn't use it to polish the car during regular routine cleaning.
Caravans have much thinner paint than most cars so a big no-no there.

I’ve spent the last two days cleaning and polishing the caravan. Roof done last week.
Greased Lightning for the preliminary followed by elbow grease and Autoglym Super Resin high gloss polish. Meguiar’s is just as good. No free lunches or auto methods.
Autoglym have a product called ultra shine,I use this now as it is easily applied and leaves a long lasting shine.

Yes,having tried on various colours I couldn't see any difference on unpolished to polished panels, I done all my caravan with it and got excellent results

Polishing compounds can and do contain abrasives from coarse to extremely fine,when used with a machine polisher due to friction they cause heat, that's why water must be applied,I use a pump up spray bottle filled with water.Wax is applied once the surface is satisfactory,in many cases an application of wax is all that's needed to bring up a shine,without the possibility of material removal or risking swirl marks.another method is a ceramic coating,but it is regarded for it to applied professionally

I recall an elderly neighbour telling me that his new ford fiestas paintwork had been given a special coating by the dealer that meant he would never have to polish it. It worked too, in 15 years of ownership he never polished it.
I have been a body shop manager for 4 decades and can safely say no don’t use one , if you can afford to buy an actual polisher about £75 it’s far safer with sponge or soft foam pads and if it’s Waxing us Auto smart Topaz you can put it on by hand an applicator sponge when the vehicle's still damp , let it dry to a haze buff it off with the soft foam pad. a proper polisher has a speed control so start of very slow until you get used to using one , if you want to compound a vehicle use a water based compound like 3M But trust me the lambs wool bonnets will burn plastic trim and the panel edges so steer clear , the sponge pads can be washed after use lambs wool hasn’t been used in the trade for 30 years now

My old dad swore by Turtle Wax Polish. Apparently tested in Sun Valley USA and gave a real hard shell finish. That was in the 60’sYes .....what's polishing?
Turtle wax in the wash water is as dedicated as it gets for me
That's interesting, for the last 15 or so years I've been doing it the opposite way round (though not with Topaz). I apply wax / sealant with a machine and buff off by hand with a microfiber cloth. I find applying by machine means I can get a very thin coat that buffs off with a single 'swipe'. Maybe I'll try buffing with a sponge pad on my machine next time.
( don't tell anyone, but I use a cordless random orbital sander for application. So far I've always remembered to put a sponge pad on in place of the sanding disc.

I just put on Mers Ultimate Shine Polish and found it to be excellent it seems to shine and protects for a long time
Nice one 🙂 I'd buy a new polishing head to be on the safe side, don't know what it's been used for in the past etc

I've just bought a cordless polishing mop from A***on for £49 .
Usually I go for something with a cord as they are far better but my caravan storage does not have any power outlets. Fingers crossed it does a good job with the SRP because my poor old RSI damaged shoulder can't physically cope with polishing anymore
