Caravan arms on both sides of centre window have failed. Not a good design, far too flimsy.

These have been around for years and years. I agree that they always seem on the point of failure, but do keep working. Its important to make sure to loosen the clamp wheel before adjusting the window. If you don't it puts a lot of strain on the pivot point attached to the frame, which then breaks.

How do you remove it from the window? We have one with a snapped runner as oldest sprog was too lazy to loosen it before closing! Oh can't work out how to unscrew them. Thanks

I think the first one had failed due to incorrect operation from previous owner but the other arm was a combination of too much strain being the only arm holding the window and age making the plastic brittle. They seem to be about £15 each.

Not all screw to the window surround, newer ones slide into a receiver fixed to the window surround.
If you look at where the window stay is fitted to the window surround you should see a small hole in the plastic slider, use a small screwdriver to push the locking tab inwards and slide the stay up and out of the receiver.
The new one just slips in and locks into place.

The new one just slips in and locks into place. The same applies to the window end.

Ditto - on one of mine the housing that holds the captive nut sheared off.

Now here is the catch. The Bailey web site says measure from the top of the lock collar to the end (or is it centre pin?) of the catch end. On ours that is 280mm confirmed by the dealer, but the only replacements I can find are 300mm, 200mm, 140mm and Baileys list 230mm and 270mm as well, but no 280mm. What is more you have to buy them in pairs that cost anything between about £26 and £35.

Rip off?

When you had said this I thought you were referring to a different styling arm. I went to Southeast Caravans in Whitstable yesterday to buy two new arms. I had the old one with me, held it up against the pack and thought it was exactly the same. Only today when I went to fit them I notice there were no screw holes on the latch part.

When we had this problem on our last caravan we asked the dealers parts salesman as we saw two different types. They look the same so I can sympathise but the salesman was very helpful.
