Caravan battery Charging

We will not be using the caravan during December or January this coming winter. In order to keep the battery in tip top condition when I remove it do I need to use a trickle carger, or would a regular boost with a car battery charger be ok?

Ideally a multi stage automatic charger is the best route, but a decent car charger is OK a long as you dont leave it on for extended periods of time, and check the electrolyte level to ensure the liquid is above the plates (unless you have a "sealed for life" battery)
With a car charger, give a full charge for 24 hours then take off charge and check each month with a multimeter.
Keep the battery in a frost free location but well ventilated.

As Damion says keep your battery away from frosts but i always make sure its not left on a concrete floor or anywhere the cold can strike at the bottom as that will take the charge out. Keep it on a bench or something like that.
