Hello, after falling off numerous ladders and getting totally soaked whilst washing the van, nevermind the aches and pains for stretching to reach all over the roof, my wife and I have decided to invest in a quality platform to use whilst safely washing the caravan.

At present being using either a 6 rung step ladder of those step ladders that convert into a mini, long platform but I can't reach any further than 2 foot across the roof with these.

We had in mind a sort of scaffolding which I could climb and wash from without risk of over stretching or falling. The trouble is finding somebody who makes such a product. any ideas? Please help before i end up in traction!

thanks, Norman

I use a pair of steps simular to

these ladders the height of the platform allows the roof of the van to be at waist height making it easy to clean the roof, i use one of those extending brushes so i can do the whole of the roof from either side quite easily.

I have tried the small platform things but you still need a ladder to help you climb up onto the platform, personally i find these much safer to use.

You can get these with ten treads if required, what i would do is see what height they are to the platform, hold a tape to the side of the van & you will get an idea as to where the platform will be, you will then be able to decide if they will be of any use.

If you have to use a bucket, you can hang it from the top rail of the platform....

Would it not be better to use a window clearer's "lean-to" type ladder than a "free-standing" step one, as the latter seem so easy to topple over even on hard standing and potentially dent the van?
