I can see by other posts that we "we are not amused" with the cc booking system.I tried at midnight trying to be crafty no,no bookings till morning and then behold!!!! Meltdown.

Why does this organisation insist on such a prehistoric profile?

It seems to be as a simpleton that there are two totally obvious solutions to this anarchy:

1.Members are allowed to book for the next season that year, why cant we book to return the next year, pay a deposit and then accept the new year costs or not.

2.Stop this selfishness in block booking sites by charging a decent non returnable deposit as we would expect to pay for any other sort of holiday.

Ever since I started looking at caravans, then bought one to enjoy the "freedom" through the faults and everything else somehow the industry seems a couple of steps behind all the time in everything, come on cc get it together.

You forgot to mention that some thought the CC had done a good job in the circumstances considering every member and their dog felt the need to log in at 9am (or even before in your case) ;O)

I can't recall anyone posting that they couldn't get their preferred dates and I assumed by now they have so the only grumble I can see is the wasted time people had trying to log in together.

On the evening of the 2nd I booked 6 sites in anout 15 minutes with no problems. I have had a look at some of the more popular sites today, like Chatsworth, and as usual in May and June all the weekends have gone with the site probably half empty the rest of the week. Not sure why but Chatsworth is still showing weekends available for July and August, very strange.

Looking at post from the various forums it seems that more people this year managed to get what they wanted and apart from the morning on the first day of booking everything seems to have gone reasonably smoothly. I therefore suspect the Caravan Club might be quite pleased with themselves and perhaps this would point to even less need to change. It does seem to me that a lot of the people that complain want equality - that is equality of misery! I have said many times that people need to write to the Club as well as venting their anger on here.

Another site I've seen lots of complaints in the past about not being able to get in is Hillhead. I've just had a look and every week AND every weekend is available throughout the year.

I do wonder what people actually moan about saying they can't get their preferred dates although going by the quietness about the subject now it seems they have all got what they wanted :O)

Was it worth all the upset and anger?

Why should the CC or any other organisation spend our money to update their servers just to please a minority for a few days when the servers are perfectly adequate for the rest of the year? Stop whining about the fact that you were nto able to log in when you wanted to log in and take it in your stride. Would people be so keen if they had to pay a deposit for every booking. I don't like the C & CC but you never see complaints about their booking system.

Hi Andrew

May I suggest it's the Members not the Club who needs to update.

The annual bun fight is like gold rush fever. If everyone calmed down, was more patient and less selfish in bagging places they didn't really want, you know the just in case I'm free syndrome, there would be no issue.

I see the merits in deposits but again someone has to administer this at more cost to the members.

Apart from Chatsworth I've never been unable to go where I want.

CC is a club for the members and I'd rather it was kept as simple as possible.

LB says there are vacancies currently at Chatsworth . So you really wonder what all this fuss has been about , yet again!

Cheers

I agree with Dusty Dog. Everyone, though, needs to be aware that even the most popular sites will not be full, even when fully booked, as there are always some pitches kept in reserve - eg when a member wants to book a 2 weeks holiday on a site. They would need to book direct with the wardens on site and check if it is possible to reserve.

I believe the work done this year was to absorb and not too crash the system.

All systems have their limits and when reached will stop new logins,i would be pleased that it worked reasonably well and everyone got their bookings even if it did take a bit of time.

Looking at the return posts I rest my case, why should they change if your all happy in the dark ages. Some of us dont have the whole year to pick from and we HAVE to go for popular dates, ive booked a villa now took 15mins but I'll hold onto the caravan dates such a system deserves it.

Anyone want a caravan Manchester airport beckons!

It's only the members who get hurt not the system.
