Hi I know there are no CC sites in France, but there are sites that are recommended by the club. I do not have the brochure but wondered if someone who does would be kind enough to look and see if there are any sites around La baule or Pornichet. This is the northern Vendee area. Thanks Denise

You should also look at the Alan Rogers and Camping Cheque websites.

Don't know when you are going but we have been to much of the Vendee over the years and sites close to the beach will be absolutely rammed for the next 5 weeks or so. Even if you can get a pitch you'll find your neighbours and theirs in close proximity. Put off the trip to v early Sept if you can, when they've flicked the french national back-to-work switch!

Whenever you go consider not being right on the beach. Literally a couple of miles inland and it is generally much calmer, prices lower and pitch size more generous.

Don't think its in the CC book but we stay at Park St Brigitte just a bit further up towards La Turballe pretty much every Easter and sometimes in September. (www.campingsaintebrigitte.com) A Pretty, quiet site with heated pool and small restaurant. I've never seen it crowded. Would definitely avoid French holiday times anywhere though if you can. Site is about 10mins from La Baule.

Just to make a point. Although the CC lists sites for their advance booking service, they do not necessairly recommend them, as that implies they have some control over them, which they do not. They have a selection of sites that over time and experience of members have met most people's requirements. They also have agreement so advance payment can be made through them.

I am not trying to be picky but in 2006 we went to a pre booked 'listed' site and it was terrible and we ended up leaving early. The CC's response was to remove the site from the following year's list, but stated that there was little else they could do as 'they had no control' over the site.

Like many things in this world one person's pleasure is another's torment, so you have to make your own choice.
