I have only been a member just under two years, this LAST 6 MNTHS I cannot get any bookings ANYWHERE nearby for a short weekend, looking for bank hol weekend end of may and have not found A THING, !! Am a member in a club I cant use, well no more am going to cancel, have not been to a CC site for ages as I cant get in !!!! only get one weekend off a month and have not had any joy now with them for the last few months.... RUBBISH !!!

Sorry to hear you are having problems booking CC sites, Tina.

I have had the same problems when trying to book my holidays which include weekends. It would appear that as soon as the online bookings appear at the beginning of the year the weekends get booked up, leaving it impossible to 'holiday in your van' unless arriving Sunday departing Friday! Even this is not possible during school holidays!

The situation is particularly bad in your situation where you can only use sites 1 in every 4 weekends. Sorry, I don't know what measures the club can take to overcome the problem.

Another annoying factor is that some sites are prebooked and the member(s) don't turn up. Some don't even have the courtesy to ring and cancel so someone else can use the pitch!

No more is it possible to just 'hitch-up and go' like it was in former times unfortunately.

Ann

You are both right and i belive that the deposit system should be brought back it may help.

I still say too many complaints about the CC are aired on here and not conveyed to the people that can assist within the corridors of the CC.

I'm afraid I'm the type of customer that Liz hates - I never book ahead! But, It does seem to me that the situation has got worse since CC introduced on-line booking. As for no-shows, I'd ban them from all sites, for life, and charge them for the lost revenue.

Just to add further to my post, Why do the major clubs allow non-members on site? If I turned up on spec and was turned away because the site was full, and had non-members on, I'd be furious!! That's what I pay membership subs for! This rant only applies to club sites, obviously.

Hi emmerson, I heard my name mentioned, I don't hate anybody, are you an early, early, arrival, or you one that just turns up on site, either way, we are not nasty here, and I think all sites should take the same attitude. Regards Liz

No Liz, I'm the one who turns up at 3 in the afternoon, unbooked, looking for a pitch! Mind you, the chances of that happening are very slim, cos I much prefer CLs. No disrespect for your type of site, but I'd rather be on a two acre field with only four other vans for company than only twenty feet away from my neighbour. Please understand, I'm not condemning large sites; they're just not for me.

I cannot speak for cc sites we are private site, I think that is terrible. Club members should really come first, but then again if you just want to turn up, what are club sites to do, just hold a pitch incase you turn up. No site would do that. Liz

p.s I have just read your post again your not an early, early bird, you don't book, nothing wrong with that you take your chance. Liz

Like you emmerson when we get to go away we like the smaller sites, but we do book, would not like to take the chance on just going. We might end up in a layby. There again all depends what time of year you go, this time of year plenty of pitches available, unless rallies are on. Liz

bear in mind though Liz, that we are retired, so go away in midweek,so it's not so difficult to find a pitch. And the sun is shining, and we're off tomorrow!!!(to a pre-booked site, cos it's a Royale club rally in Brecon)

Liz, we've not had Royale rally in Cornwall for many years. Perhaps we'll do that next year. Send me details of your site please, and I'll put it up for discusion for 2008. Ask the mod for my email.

Hi

Neil, I suppose it sounded like a general complaint but the main point of my post was has it always been this hard !! I have contacted the CC site and informed "sorry, caravanning is popular and online booking has made it easier for people to "fill thier boots" with no deposit and no penalty for not turning up at all " I was advised to ring cc sites on my day of arrival to see if their is a space, not good enough I,m afraid when you have two excited children waiting to go to be told "no we cant now" !,there are lots of other nice non CC sites to use.

If a service is rubbish I'm not paying to TRY and use it .SIMPLE.

Hi,

After trying for 3 years we finally got booked on to longleat for the easter weekend and the following week the day the on-line booking system opened.

when we put our holidays in at work and my wife was turned down as she had to work on easter sunday so we phoned the cc to tell them that we couldnt make it until the bank holiday monday so we thought we'd free up the pitch for someone else for the weekend.

We were told that our membership had ran out (which we knew) cos as you say you cant get on anywhere when you want to) and to amend the booking we would have to re-join so what do you think we did then?

No we wasted

Hi Andy and jue, I had to reply I think that is terrible for you, only thing I would say is whether its a cc site or private site, most people that do book for Easter would want to stay on the Easter Monday as well, so really you are not saving a pitch for them to book out, but then renewing your membership and paying the

I only stay in the CC for the insurance.

However, I was well impressed with the site we stopped on last weekend. I've tried to book some sites tonight but they are fully booked.

Sorry it's a case of supply and demand. It's not the CCs fault that sites are booked up, but they could do more to punish those who don't cancel. Contact the club if you feel p***ed O** with the way it's run.

I feel that if your a member of a Club and pay membership fees, you should be top of the list for a site, if full up on chosen site, their should be a facility for memebers to ask available site in the area required. Non members are last line. No site will have pitches empty I do realize this, that would be bad management, but surely cc sites are more organised that this, or don't they care about their members.
