Caravan covers,short life expectantly

Hi everyone, it's been quite a while since I've posted anything on here,but I thought I would ask if anyone knew the likely life of a caravan cover.
Removed mine last week,and a fine powder residue,(grey dust) was left on the van. It seem's that the sun light is breaking down the fabric.The cover is only 4 years old,but has only been used for 3 winters,very dissappointed with the short life of this cover.

I don't use a cover for a caravans but I do use covers for other trailer tops and items of garden equipment, and like you I have need very disapointed with the life these seem to have.

I am convinced that most of the modern covers are less durable than older ones, and I wonder if it is to do with the vast majority are now imports from the far east.
