I tried mine plus Goldfish, Nationwide and Switch/Maestro in April and could not get any joy out of any of them. If you call at the garage during the day the chip and pin works ok at the till.

Beware - most petrol stations are not manned on Sunday.

Kate I have a Caravan Club credit card, (if this is the one you mean), and you cannot use it on automatic French pumps, even though it is chip and pin this system does not work in france, you still sign your slip. The CC card is worth having thogh because there is no commission at all charged on overeas transactions. If used abroad you dont have any hidden charges to pay when you get your statement.

The CC card is from Frizzell as is the CSMA equivalent. While you get a good rate of exchange, from March 1st there is an interest charge at 17% APR on cash advances, from time of advance to time of settlement. If this is true for the CC card, then you need to time cash withdrawl as near to your statement date as possible.

Further to my comment (see below) about interest rates on cash withdrawals, beware that even if you tell Liverpool victoria in advance that you are going to use the card abroad it may be blocked for "unusual spending pattern" even though it has worked well (in Spain) for the previous 6 weeks. The total transactions that day were well below the daily cash withdraw limit, but I had to fight very hard to get any remompense for the charges on the alternative card i was forced to use.

Further, LV have yet - after 3 months - to send me revised terms and conditions they say i received - but didn't - showing the change of rules on cash withdrawals.

I'm not saying any other bank is different, only that these affinity cards with LV are not quite as good as they may appear to be.
