Im having problems finding an insurance company to insure my van for a one year period in europe any suggestions greatly appreciated

Have you tried the CC and C&CC ??

Look up the European Directive on Insurance and then call your Insurance Company and point out the Directive, insurance is now across borders in Europe.

If that fails call direct line in what ever country you are going to and ask them to insure it locally

I done mine for one year through Barrons (www.caravaninsurance,co.uk)then i changed to another company.
