were is the best place to jack up a 'van? when not in use i put the 'van on axle stands and have just had a mover fitted and find it nigh on impossible to get the trolley jack in were i used to so i jacked it up just behind the wheel on the main chassis that runs forward to aft, just in front of the spare wheel carrier,is this ok or would it damage or distort the chassis, would appreciate any advise on this matter.

Depending on the make of caravan I would ring the manufacturers as it could invalidate your warranty if jacked in the wrong place. Most manufacturers have a customer service dept that you can ring. You will usually find their number on the internet. They will certainly advise.

Some people use airbag jacks but have had varying results they good ones are great but quite expensive and the cheap ones can be very poor, also depending on the quality of your exhaust pipe (for leaks).

If its an ALKO chassis then the square plate behind the wheel that the axle goes through is ok to put a jack under

There are only three places where the van can be jacked safely.

First is directly under the axle tube where it meets the chassis rail.

SEcond is under the reinforced web where the axle tube attaches to the chassis.

Last is with use of the side lift jack.

You must NEVER jack anywhere else on the chassis rails.
