Caravan Movers - Motor Movers

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a motor mover for my caravan; it is a twin axle caravan and weighs 1770kg. Has anyone got a mover fitted to a caravan weighing this much? And is it any good? Is there a better make i.e. Truma, Reich, Power touch?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

We have a Twin Axle and it to is heavy 1850kg tmpl. We have a Truma T E mover and it works very well. The only thing we bought in addition was an Al-Ko Jockey Wheel with the built in nose weight gauge. The very hard plastic wheel originally fitted to the van used to slip a bit on gravel surfaces. Highly recommend the Truma T E and it has remote electrical engaement of the actuators !!!.

We also have the Truma TE, our van is 1900kg.

We opted for the Truma 2 wheel drive mover as we did not want the weight of the Reich or Poweertouch 4 wheel drive ones.

It also has better ground clearance.

Only consider those companies that offer an out of hours help line. I have just had a brand new Reich mover taken off my caravan because of a complete malfunction on a Friday afternoon. The company that installed it left me to it until the following Monday morning as they were unobtainable with just an answerphone. In the Midlands Reich customer service is non-existant.

Van is 1900 kg and we have a Reich. Very happy and had no problems in 2 years. We also swaped jockey wheel for one with a penumatic tyre as the rigid one tended to dig in on soft ground. Only problem is that as you really need 4 motor drive you loose any under chasis wheel carrier and you can't fit a Kojack jacking point as the mover uses these holes.

We have a Powertouch 4 wheel drive auto engage mover. This is brilliant for us as we also have a twin axle van and it is on a large steep drive. The aftersales service clinched this for us too.
