Caravan prices

I have noticed on the news reports that the insurance companies are now using large tourers as temporary accommadation for the victims of the floods. When these vans are sold after they are done with will this cause a glut on the market and as such will this cause a reduction in value of this type of this type of van?

A good point - over supply is bound to affect prices.

The other thing to watch out for Will be hundreds of flood damaged tourers that have ostensibly been written off by insurance companies, but which make their way back into the market after a quick blow-dry and clean - Ebay is about to get even trickier

(of course, all this presupposes that the rain will eventually stop, and that we don't become a nation of permanent caravan dwellers, all moving our homes to higher ground when the weather dictates - if that happens we'll be taking our holidays in houses just for a change

But before that glut of vans - will be the hiked up prices that will be around because of the shortage of decent vans, bearing in mind that anything family sized will have been bought at full asking price by the insurance companies. That has already happened here in Hull

I suppose that the dealers will buy the second hand vans back in some sort of arrangement that will keep the little man out then release them at a healthy profit.

Hi

Another side to caravans being supplied to people affected by the floods, our 2006 Bailey caravan was booked in for servicing as per meeting the needs of the warranty. Caravan due to be collected last Saturday, return delayed until this week, hubby asked if it could be collected yesterday, caravan not ready, will be picking up on Friday then towing straight to a caravan site for the weekend. Dealers are up to their eyes with work due to new caravans being supplied to flood hit areas and servicing their own customers.

We are not complaining, our hearts go out to the people with homes and businesses damaged by floods.

We are trying to sell our 2001 20' 6 berth tourer, asking a little less than Glass's private sale price and have advertised it in local papers, caravan finder, Ebay classified, and auto trader, one week on and the phone has been utterly silent!!!, no response whatsoever.
