There is a God ! Our 'van was stolen in January 07 from South Wales, we had a good settlement from Saga and bought a new one. Two 'phone calls from the CRIS and police yesterday to say the 'van has been recovered in West Yorkshire and they have someone in custody for questioning.

I accept that this person may not have been the villain who originally stole it but let's hope there is a trail for the police to follow. I thought I ought to share this story to bring a little hope to all those people who have had their 'vans stolen.

Good news indeed.

Let's hope it leads to the vermin who stole it. Mind you, they will probably get 4 hrs Community Service or something equally pathetic!

I know what I'd do to them, and it wouldn't involve 3 meals a day, and free TV on the taxpayer!!

Hi Glyn

Good news. But what state was the original c'van in whenrecovered . I expect your Insurers will now take control and dispose of the van on best possible terms. Enjoy your new van and keep it well protected.

Can you say who your Insurers were and how well they treated you??

Cheers

Alan

I was insured with Saga and they were superb, can't recommend them too highly. The premiums were slightly higher than others but less than the caravan club but with hindsight, worth every penny.

I got a bit frustrated with the time it took to get a payout / new 'van but that was down to the loss adjuster who came out took a statement, visited the site and wrote a 26 page report! Once they had that and details of the contents lost, settlement was swift. Fantastic service.

I kept it on a friends garden just outside Bridgend. It was a rural position, no one at home during the day but a busy road passing the property. The gate was padlocked and the 'van had three security devices fitted, an Alko hitch lock, a Milenco wheel clamp and an elderly Bulldog wheel clamp. The thieves just peeled them off, it must have taken them minutes to remove them. I would not waste my money on such flimsy devices again.

I sincerely hope you are not storing the caravan there again!! It's just asking to be stolen at a place where it is on show to the passing traffic and nobody is in all day.
