Do any of your staff do any investigations into the list of the above as to them giving good honest service before adding them to your list of repairers.

I could give you one on your list I would never go to again, there was no crock of satisfaction at the end that Mansfield Rainbow.

Hi Ron

I realise your question was directed to the Magazine. My experience of Aftersale service has been terrible. I have required about 5 items for spares or repairs and they managed to get them all wrong. 1) Wheel spat for a twin axle, they sent a single axle one. 2)Manual Toilet flush plunger, waited and waited for delivery ,eventual they found they had one in stock. 3)Damaged vanity unit door, waited 2 weeks, when it arrived they had sent the wrong one, still waiting for it!. 4)Lounge 12 volt reading light ordered 5 weeks ago ,still waiting. 5)Economy Lamp in the bathroom failed. Dealer hadn't a clue where to get one from.I did get one eventually.

6) Two structural problems were investigated by my dealer who took photo's in order to make a warranty claim to the manufacturers. Two weeks later I asked how the claim was going on, only to be told the photo's were still on their computer and the person who deals with the claims had not been informed. Still waiting for a decision. In my case theres not much to choose between the dealer or the manufacturer, they are both incompetent.

Hi Ron, Jim C is right; Incompetent seems to be quite apt. However, inefficient & most annoyingly, indifferent also come high on my list of descriptions for my dealer.

(Unfortunately due to p.c. and the fear of P.C. being sued, we're not allowed to name them!)

It's a sad indictment, not only of the caravan industry, but also the society we live in today

There probably are some good caravan workshops out there, but I haven't found one yet!

The problem with this industry is that there are no minimum standards, not even in the Approved Caravan Workshops scheme. Read their small print if you don't believe me.

I've had my caravan returned from repair at an ACW in a potentially lethal state. Their response to my complaint was "we have no minimum standard to fall below"!

None of the caravanning magazines, club or paid-for, carry out independent investigative journalism. They're all too busy promoting the interests of their advertisers.

As far as caravan repairers are concerned, they are probably like all other forms of industry. I can recommend three firms in the Bridgend area where I have received either excellent service or good report. The firm I have used for both repair and service on numerous occassions is Bridgend Caravan Service Centre on the Brackla Industrial Estate in Bridgend. The other firms I have had glowing reports from are in Pyle on the Villiage Farm Industrial Estate and In Pontyclun on the Coedca Lane Industrial Estate. No doubt someone will reply to the contary with a different experience of these firms. No one is perfect and we all have our off days no matter what service you offer. There are good and not so good everywhere.

What did you need them for Ron? Was it just a caravan service?

I can recommend Britech Caravan Services (Worksop) they come out to the caravan and service it (mobile). Although we haven't used them for three years (warranty on new van) they still send a card at Xmas! Better priced than a main dealer they might be worth a go next time you need them.

Ron - so sorry you and others have had such a bad experience. I did too a few years ago from a dealer where I'd bought 3 vans - the last one ending up at a caravan graveyard as it was full of damp, despite having been "serviced" annually by the supplying dealer who of course didn't want to know when I tackled him about it. So, apart from me losing

Yes lol I`ve heard good reports about them and I have recently had my van serviced with Caravan Care a man who comes from Edwinstowe who is very thorough and his prices are very good.
