We have just bought a 2010 swift challenger 570, which has a TV bracket which neatly stores away upwards into a storage area. Does anyone know if we need to buy a specialised TV for a caravan or will a general flat screen portable TV be fine (obviously they are much cheaper). I would appreciate any help _ we are completely knew to this. Thanks

If you plan on using 240v then any t.v. (size permitting) would do. If however you want to power it by 12v then you will need to source one that can be powered that way. 12v t.v.s are available but requiring a bit more searching out, they might also tend to be a little bit more expensive.

I have a 570 and here pasted from a post I did on the Swift Forum is information on the actual size TV that can be accommodated on the bracket.
Rusty has the Sterling Ruby, the same van as the 570, and has fitted a 19" Panasonic L19X10B that swivels. I have been out this morning and looked at it in Currys, and measured it and it is 470mm wide. Subsequently purchased this TV and it does fit, however it is 240volt, so would not operate on the battery.
David Klyne also purchased the same TV and submitted the pictures I have pasted below, showing it in situ. on his Charisma 550..

I have now installed it in the caravan and it fits much better than the previous Samsung and it will swing round for viewing from the bed.

Further to George's post one thing I would add is that if you need to use a scart lead for either a satellite receiver or a separate DVD player try and find a TV where the scart socket is not immediately in front of the upright support as there is not a lot of room and I have to use a straight scart lead rather than the normal offset type. If you buy a TV/DVD combi TV and just use the caravan aerial it will not be an issue. Its not proved to be a major issue for us but the lead does poke through the blind behind the TV.
