Bottom line, why bother with a T.V. when you are on holiday?

Possibly like many of our circle of campers, we are not on "holiday" but "living".
And just like when we are "living" at home, we like the odd bit of TV, particularly on evenings like now when its pouring out there offering no real alternatives without driving, spending and/or drinking.

So what is so wrong with anyone wanting to watch tv whilst in their caravan? Would you object to someone reading a book, or download. Or is it reverse snobbery?

I didnt say it was so wrong. Nowt wrong with it, each to there own, but me personally no, why pay all that money for site fees, fuel, caravan etc. when you can sit at home and watch a gogglebox. And if weather is bad i always find somewhere to go.

Worth looking at Cello TVs they do domestic smart and specific leisure vehicle tvs.

Granted it as a few years ago, but we returned our Cello TV after using it for a few nights. To enjoy a decent picture, one had to sit almost directly in front of it.

These days we have the normal 28" LG on the front chest and 21" Avtex in the bedroom area as OH likes to go to bed early and watch TV. Works for us.

The problem here is two-fold.

I am unsure why a smart TV will be needed assuming you will be using some sort of broadband feed. What you will certainly need if you use cable feed is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) so that your source "thinks" you are in the UK. For example if you try to watch BBC on line you will automatically get bbc.com and not bbc.co.uk that you really need.
Secondly since Sky was put onto Astra 2G about a decade or so ago the footprint was significantly reduced. Look at lyngsat.com if you want to see how it was changed. The effect is that now you will only be able to receive Sky (or Freesat for that matter) in a 'tongue' shaped footprint crossing from the south coast of the UK narrowing to a point termination in the Dijon/Jura sort of area. On a 60-65cm ovoid dish you will get very little south of about Poitiers or east of about Strasbourg.

We have no issue with 85cm dish right down into Spain for Sky TV. Our Satfi dome worked down as far as Valencia for Sky. However we could only get BBC. ITV etc when we travelled to Milau.

Some TV specifications will include the vertical and horizontal viewing angles, which is useful for comparison but not all do.

BB is that a “smart”tv allowing to use WiFi for all the catch up stuff, Netflix you tube etc? We’ve been thinking about a replacement. Whilst we use the dish and Sky , I think smart TVs using Wifi offer a lot. Not sure how much they burn the sites wifi🙉🙉

Very few, if any, caravan sites will offer sufficient bandwidth to enable you to stream any TV content. Most will say their WiFi is only suitable for Internet browsing ir dealing with emails. If you want to streamnTV you need to think about either using your mobile phones data allowance, or getting a mini device.

One assumes that you want to watch the basic channels? Sky is radiated on more than one satellite especially the Sky specific channels. BBC does have a significantly tighter beam.
