Caravan Waste water pipe cleaning

What is the best method of cleaning the grease, out of the waste pipework on a caravan. Would poring hot water through the pipes be ok. 🙁
 
Block the outlet with some kind of bung, pour Soda Crystals into the waste pipe at the sink followed by very hot water to fill the pipe, leave for 10 minutes and drain.
 
If the smell persists it could be a build up of gunge just inside the sink plug hole. To clean this I disconnect the waste pipe below the plug and clean up inside. the plug hole assembly. I have found on my caravan that this is the area most likely to cause odours and the pipes are normally remain quite clean.
