Just incase anyone is planning a trip to the shop before Christmas be aware they are now closed as of 18th December despite not mentioning this on their website opening hours.

I am bloody annoyed with them; I called then Monday 16th Dec, spoke to a lady there and was told they're closed on Mondays but open after that so commented that I'll be popping by later in the week.

Today I drive there and they're closed.

I rang them but only got the voice message telling me what I already know!

Reluctantly this is one reason why I am opting for online businesses from now on and avoiding shops unless I need something that day. CT staff obviously not bothered to atleast ammend their website to warn of an impromptu closure which ofcourse I understand if its quiet.

A case of negative reporting once again.

Oh well nevermind!

Ok thanks. I don't do SM generally. Its a pity their own website wasn't amended.
I certainly wasn't made aware of them closing Wednesday 18th whilst I was on the phone Monday 16th which is the annoying bit but was told they're on skeleton staff cover this week. I'm sure I would of made a mental note of the xmas closing times as I was always planning to drop by later in the week.
Still heyho these things happen.

I find it very frustrating the usage of social media to make announcements when there are so many choices to use so which one do I need to use to pick up on the news. Businesses have websites yet will put latest news on social media. Police and councils are as bad too.

+1 I don't do social media so exclude any businesses with just Facebook, or whatever, when searching for a product - their loss of potential trade.

Are supermarkets closed from Christmas day until New year's day as everyone seems to be stocking a lot of stuff?

Along this theme I’ve just spent time trying to see if the roads across the Salisbury Plain Training Area are open prior to Christmas. Apart from an official MoD document that subdivided the area into firing zones and another page gave access times the normal one page access “flyer” has been discontinued. One of our pre Christmas treats was a drive across the ranges to Imber ghost village. A walk around the village and church followed by a roadside cook up of bacon sand which. There seemed lots on Facebook or X, but nothing easy to access. Eventually the Bath Classic Motorcycle club provided the information. Turns out the access to Imber and its church is only open now from 28 Dec to 2 Jan and there’s been an overall reduction of public access from 50 days per year to a mere handful. Reason being the great British public have been abusing the privilege☹️

We're going onto Salisbury Plain in April to see the Great Bustard reintroduction programme, but we can't use our own vehicles - have to be taken across the ranges an a Land-Rover.

I bought that outing for my wife as a birthday gift a couple of years ago. Well worth the visit. Despite spending quite a bit of time on the plain off roading in the southern areas I’ve never seen a bustard other than on the outing. They seem to stay on their locale. Mind you that’s a relief as hitting one in your car on normal roads is significantly different to hitting a pheasant, they are big. !!!

We thought that when we called at Tesco supermarket near to our home yesterday it was packed at 1pm but i manage to park the car my wife said there was a lot of shelves empty ,

Not really as the access roads aren't too bad, the one from the White Horse via the Perimeter Road is just rough ballast with potholes. Even our run about Note then Rio had few problems if taken steady. The Warminster Barrack-Imber- Gore Cross route is generally better than most Wiltshire roads anyway.

Yes we often take the “pop up” on a day out, or even just a trip onto the Plain. Sandwiches and flask are okay but you can’t beat bacon sandwiches and a fresh brew. 👍

Seeing the "ghost" village and all that must be quite interesting and envy you. I do know that a 4x4 forum arranged meets to drive across Salisbury plain obviously in the "safe" areas.

I used to take the Pajero out regularly with the Bristol LR club as I had honorary membership, plus I’d go with 4x4 Adventure Tours who were guided by the chairman of the LR club. I think the Pajero was accepted because of its superb recovery ability 😂
