Just pull the bottom of the fire towards you and lift off, unless of course it has been screwed to the surround like mine has, to stop it springing of whilst towing.

Thanks Steve, just what I needed to know and yes, it was screwed to the wall. I couldn't believe how much fluff was behind the cover.
