Carver Cascade burner fireproof insulation?

See photo below, the fireproof insulation material in front of the water heater burner needs replacing, it has turned into dust. What is the best thing to replace it with? I'm guessing some kind of rockwool or ceramic cloth? Any sources?

Welcome to the forum. I don't think I have seen the name Coetzee since leaving South Africa many years ago. I can't advise as we have ALDE heating but hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to answer your question soon.
