Cassette toilet holding tank

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to know what caravanners out there cleaned out there cassette toilet tanks with? I know Thetfords do a cleaner but are there or has anyone any ideas with others types of cleaner.Many Thanks.Jim(Hemel)

personally I just rinse it out several times until the water is clear and I have never had a problem.

We've always rinsed the cassettes with water and have never had any problems.

Oh really, how un_coof.

I prefer to place some dissinfectant, and then place a sprig of poh poori (Pot Pouri) to make it smell nice and fresh.

OK then, not really, water it is, same as everyone so far 🙂

As we only use our loo for emergency no 1's washing out only requires water rinse.

Just don't be too enthusiastic swishing the water around - that rattle you might hear could be the level indicator float arm coming loose. Read of motor home owners putting ice cubes into the cassette, letting them swirl around with the motion of travelling to scour the inside clean. Not sure I would like a quantity of water swooshing around at the rear of my 'van while moving though - - think snake !
