Please can someone recommend a site on Costa Blanca South where my 2 tiny Pomeranians will not become victims of the Catterpillar Gang? We are hoping to go for 3 months from Jan 2008.All and any help gratefuly received as this will only be our 2nd time across out of the cul de sac (GB) We will be travelling from Calais taking our time and avoiding PARIS.BEEN, THERE DUN THAT "sans caravan".As we are retired and not as well off as we were any cost cutting advice would be appreciated.

KIND REGARDS

SANDRA

Try the Camping Cheque website for out of season, cheap, sites - some on the Costa Blanca will give you special offers too. http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/en/. Select 'Our campsites' and then the map of Spain, and click on the blobs on the map - each is a site, and will open a page giving brief details of when that site is open, and accepts Camping Chques, and also any special offers which might apply (for example 60 nights for the cost of only 30 cheques!!)

Thank you so much Valerie I will do just that.If possible I will send you our position when we are feeling the benefit of the warmer weather. We are just returned from France and going up to Lancashire for 10days at the weekend. Love this country WHEN the sun shines but dont want to waste the winter time.

Hello Sandra.

Whilst I can't recommend a sight in Spain, I can pass on a small amount of experience of the Processionary Caterpillars gained from months spent touring in the South of France.

Put simply, if the site owner has pets or can be loosely regarded as an animal -lover then they deal with the web-like nests in which the caterpillars develop. If they aren't, they don't. Their attitude seems to be, that the potential danger is such an every-day problem for pet owners, it is therefore up to you to look after your pets.

You might also look at the following website where the problem is also dealt with .

Hope this helps,

Olly.

Hi Sandra

Another tool for cost effective low season caravanning is the ACSI card, just google it to check it out.

Mind you some of the Spanish give long term discounts as a matter of course.

My regards

Ken
