Hi all
Just wondered if anyone else have experienced this.
Yesterday received an email from CC head office, cancelling our previous confirmed booking at Gowerton over this coming BH weekend, arriving Friday, leaving Tues.
Their reason was due to the bad weather.
I understand we have had some rain recently, but we are really dissapointed by this as we have been looking forward to going away over this weekend.
Unfortunately they cannot offer us any alternative site.
Rant over, a very dissapointed Tracy

Friends of ours left Gowerton last Friday and they said the weather was horrendous, they even packed up in a storm. If the weather in Swansea is the same as we've had in the last 24 hours on the Welsh border I'm not surprised. Our friends told us the wardens were cancelling people last week before they left.

We were at Newcastle Emlyn 3 years ago in an absolute mud bath. We were filthy, the dogs were drenched and you can imagine the state of the awning and caravan.
Good on the CC to at least let you know . I appreciate your disapointment but believe me I'd rather miss the BH and stay dry than what happeend to us. Took ages back home to get cleaned up properly!

I can understand your disappointment, but yesterday it was blitzing rain in South Wales. Gowerton is a flat low lying site and unless you have a hard standing it does get muddy quickly. With the lousy weather thus far you might get a cancellation elsewhere in the area.

Cheers

A few years ago the CC site at Pandy phoned us a couple of days before we were due to go to say the pitches were flooded. It was during the Queens jubilee and the world cup so everywhere was fully booked. We phoned round a few CC sites and some said they would put us on a waiting list in case of cancellations. The lovely warden at Blaydon Chains site phoned back to say that there had been a cancellation and because we had been disapointed by being cancelled at Pandy she put us to the top of the list. We had a fantastic time, there were flags up everywhere, Union Jack's for the Queen and England flags for the football, lots of things going on, fantastic weather and a totally great atmosphere!!
Good luck with finding somewhere as good as we got!!

Sorry to hear that. As others have pointed out, the area is liable to flooding. The Loughor Estuary is close by and if there are high tides and rain forecast then you wouldn't want to be there. I am sure the wardens have not taken this decision lightly and that you're better off not going. Best wishes, Butler

What a coincidence we both have Springers, Bailey and Sorento!!

We ain't got no springers but we do have a Sorento and two Bailey's.
One being the caravan and the other being one of our miniature schnauzers. We have no plans as of yet to get another pup and call her Sorento.

Sad innit?

A few years back we were booked into the CC site in the Brecon Beacons. This was the third (and last) site on a mini tour. Due to very bad weather there, the wardens cancelled all bookings and tried to contact us. We, of course, were away and although the wardens left a message on our home answerphone we didn't get the message. We turned up at the site but, rather than being turned away, offered to let us us and a couple of other caravans stop on the carpark which was the only bit of hard standing. The wardens had no obligations to do this, they were just being what most wardens are, helpful.

exactly the same thing happened to us - although disappointing I was glad to be warned. The last minute availability option was fab though and we ended up having 5 days in Derbyshire instread - yes it was mostly wet but with a hard standing we still had a great time - and took our guinea pigs with us!
