It seems that when booking ferry and Red Pennant insurance through Caravan Club they now require to know width of caravan as well as length and height. This figure did not come readily to hand as I had never been asked for it before, as does not as yet appear as a requirement on their website.
They are introducing a new computer system mid August (which seems not the best of times for such an exercise0 and there is some confusion at present, particularly for early booking of winter sun trips exteding into 2011.
I suspect the requirement for width data comes from the ferry operators so other booking agencies will probably follow suit.
