We do not use the CC Club sites, Only the CL's, As we think they are expensive, I have never understood the pitch fee Pay it once ok but every night

We do use the C&CC club site as we get concessions all year on some sites

Mind no one every said caravanning was cheap

CC sites are not the cheapest (nor the dearest) but you know that you will get a large pitch with 1st class facilities. If the club sites were privatley run most would have a lot smaller pitches witha lot more outfits and probably the same number of toilets (not always the same standard). I personally would rather pay the extra and get the quality. We have booked at Blackpool site for the illuminations,

the point of this comment is, that to take a family away for even a week is getting to expensive, with fuel, pitch fees, caravaning was a good cheap holiday but now they are getting on the band wagon and charging the earth, as frank says we are all not on fantastic wages.

Hi John,

" The site was a credit to the staff being very well maintained and the toilets were excellent" I don't think that has ever been an issue !!!!!..The site was a credit to the staff being very well maintained and the toilets were excellent"

I have to agree that CC prices are getting a bit steep, espeacially during peak time. We have recently changed our van to one with an end washroom and proper shower. We have now started to use Cl's at a fraction of the cost of club sites. Trouble is caravanning has become so popular that sites can get away with charging higher prices as they know plenty of people are still happy to pay, supply and demand. I would say with club sites at least you know what you will get, a good size pitch, clean and well maintained facillities and friendly wardens (usually). At least with the CC there are sites to suit all tastes and budgets. But it's Cl's for us from now on.

There are different options, as already mentioned, which offer cheaper alternatives. I am curious where you went, what you paid and what you got to make you happy.

Hi John,

and so do I appreciate good service which we have come to expect on club sites. Just Peter was complaining about cost not standards of service.

That's all

Most of my reply was to the point about costs but I just wanted to share a little joy with you.

Regards

So come on Peter, where did you go, what did you get and for how much ?

I was curiously looking at the advertised prices displayed by the local seaside hotels. We are talking family run, small hotels. They were charging

Just to qualify my earlier remarks on the excellent site at Blackshaw Moor

I omitted to say that the facilities and staffing need paying for as I didn't wish to appear patronising

A quick search for alternative prices shows one week at Marton Mere near to Blackpool for 2 adults/outfit less than 21ft/awning pitch with electric costs

We all know what we get by going to a C.C. site so I believe it's down to peoples preferences on how much they are willing to pay. For example I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable fee for a site in lovely surroundings, plenty of greenery and bird song. Maybe with sea views or a river or lake close by with a nice dog walk. On the other hand they would have to pay me to go to a site like Skegness, people can keep their *Kiss Me Quick* hats, candy floss and views of statics for mile after mile. Thankfully we all don't like the same type of site so for those who do like Skegness, they won't have any competition for a pitch from me :O)

Hi Kev, I agree. Some people though count in the cost of the caravan, insurance etc. which shouldn't be an issue. If you like caravanning you buy a caravan, as simple as that. People can't expect the clubs to lower their prices to subsidise their outlay on a caravan.

My sentiments exactly, if you want the good sevice and clean well run sites you have to pay for them if you want to go cheep go to something like a cl where you may not even get a shower. You pays your money you takes your choice

Quality costs, simple

an example is Look at the outlay Simon has put into Carnon downs in the past 4 years

Yes, and if Her Ladyship has her way we'll be back there again next March, she's already booked a week off work.
