hi folks..

we are currently members or the cc and are thinking of joining the ccc aswell. do most people join both or just stick to one.. are we being greedy by being part of 2 clubs.. we know that the service and standard of cc sites are excellent due to our experience on them, but we were wondering whether the same can be said of the ccc..

any info on the benefits of the cc would be welcome

thanks all in advance

Hi Daz

Glad you asked this question, because we are thinking the same.

I think the standards are very similar, but I always think of the CCC having campers who go to all these music festivals who haven't washed for days ....... awful aren't I? And then having to go and share the same washing facilities as them eg, shower block. I am sure they are really lovely people ;-)

Haven't got a clue about the difference.

But I am sure one of the more experienced caravanners will be along to help us out.

We are members of both Clubs. We joined because we found that there were often sites from one or the other in areas we wanted to visit, so paid the money to get the access. Nothing more frustrating than having to drive past a nice site just because you are not a member.

There are many similarities between them in as such they both offer good sites and facilities. Yes, the C&CC also takes tenters as well, but that can add to the fun as it broadens the coimmunity you are mixing with. No, they are not all 'sandals and beards' by any means.

Differences??

Well, the C&CC will escort you to your pitch, whereas the CC lets you find your own. That is sometimes good and sometimes bad if the site is busy. The C&CC also offer Rotary clothes dryers beside the toilets, so you do not have to use the electric dryer as per CC. The C&CC have more grass pitches than hardstandings, as would be expected and sometimes you can wake up with a tent maybe a shade closer than you expected.

Both Clubs have a majority of excellent wardens and of course a share of jobsworthy's, you take pot luck as to what you get. Both Clubs offer an advance boking service but the C&CC insist on a deposit and will not let you stay for 1 night at weekends or Bank Holidays, to maximise access to all. Getting a C&CC site is usually easier because there is less chance of people booking many weekends, and then not turning up. The CC does not do this and their sites are usually fully booked for Saturday nights. There has been a lot of discussion regarding this topic on the Forum as it is causing a lot of frustration.

Both Clubs offer CL's and CS sites for 5 outfits and the C&CC also has access to forest sites where facilities are usually basic.

Basically if you wish to choose and can identify the area where you want to stay most of the time, then pick the appropriate Club. If however, like us you want the best of all worlds, then join them both. The annual fees are about

We find the CC club sites immaculate, facilities (Yellowcraig near Edinburgh just the best ever), other peoples` caravans too! We feel we hope they are family orientated but there are a lot of clientele that may make you feel nervous that your kids are not what they want to see. I could be paranoid. CCC clubs are sometimes more `campy` but I like this. I love to walk around site seeing people eating outside, BBQs smelling lovely. Facilites usually well used but looked after. Friendly staff. A tad more laid back.

An interesting thread as I have been considering joining the CCC as well as already being a member of the CC. For myself as Ilive in Northern Ireland, how good the club run sites are is not much of an issue as there are no CC owned sites in Ireland (a handful of affiliated sites which anyone can book), I don't know about the CCC but I would be surprised if they have any sites. My reason fro considering the CCC is to give us a wider choice of rallys to go to.

Just considering it, really Irish member of the CC should have a reduced membership fee considering the lesser service offered by the club to us. Sure you can (and I have) used mainland sites, but with the cost of ferry travel this is a once a year thing, not every weekend.

We are in both for variety of sites

The C & CC continental rallies are excellent with stewards who are there to help if needed and they oganise non compulsary events etc

The sites are excellent on the whole from both clubs but its not surprising if the C & CC are more campy as the C stands for Camping so there are tents etc on site

We have been in CC for 30 years and joined C & CC 17 years ago after encountering one of their rallies in Brittany when on a CC holiday rally

We have been on the C & CC continental holiday rallies every year since

We have house, car and caravan ins through the C & CC at very good rates plus 10% disc off each for having them all from the club

It is so nice to see sensible posts on this topic, which I have found very useful, not the usual type casting of members of either club.

Thanks.

Graeme.

We are in both clubs and use sites in both. Like Scotch Lad says sometimes only one has sites where you fancy going. It may be only my experience but I prefer the CC toilet blocks.

The C&CC offer good family deals on site fees for those with children and also an over 55 rate which can save a few pounds per night. I think that the age concession applies mainly in low and mid season but we don't need to caravan much in high season so that doesn't really matter to us. The C&CC deposit is generally a good thing but last summer because we used three sites on our two week holiday we ended up paying most of the site fees in advance.

You don't need to use the Clubs much to "save" the joining fee, we are going on a family long weekend in April to a C&CC site and one of my brothers who is not a member is paying an extra

We're in both clubs and find them both well worth the membership. The Big Sites Book that you get as part of your C&CC membership is very useful and we look forward to the magazines from both clubs arriving each month. As already posted above, CC sites have excellent toilet/shower facilities and you can go to their sites confident that they will be clean and plentiful. Our experience of C&CC site facilities is that they are slightly more basic and are often unheated but they are kept just as clean as their CC counterparts.

We find the C&CC CS sites are often better than CC CL sites as, because they take tent campers, they sometimes have basic toilet facilities. Sometimes these are just portakabin types but we've always found them to be perfectly acceptable for overnight enroute stopovers.

Agree with Caroline's comments re outdoor living/cooking etc. We were previously tent campers and although we much prefer the comforts of the caravan, it's nice to have a mix of people on site. It's true that tenters can tend to be a bit noisier but we find going on hardstandings means you're usually pitched amongst caravans.

Going on a mix of sites from both clubs this year and find C&CC slightly cheaper overall because of their family deal (we have 3 kids).

I am also a member of both clubs,But I personaly prefer the C&CC sites as they are closer to my idea of camping,They are more aligned to conservation & a more natural way of doing things.the over 50's low season prices & discounts for the forstry sites are a bonus as is the Family price structure

The CC sites are very good & of extreem quality but to me a bit to formal .

c&cc charge a deposit but this is refundable to an account for use in the future if you have to cancell. this also has the effect of stopping block booking of sites & not turning up

The C & CC sites are more open and a good comparison can be made at Sandringham where the 2 club sites are adjacent to one another

The CC have opted a lot for chippings hard standing and although this isn't as nice as grass its a boon in the rainy season(summer)
