Hi,

After years of making up the beds, we've finally admitted defeat and ordered the Pagaent Bordaeux for delivery in April. I would like to install a Car CD radio and the pagaent seems to have an ideal place at the front of the van under the clock, with the speakers mounted under the high level cupboards in the front corners of the van.

Has anybody any advice on installing the radio, where I pick up the power from and arial (the TV point and Booster is at the other end of the van in the high level TV cabinet). There appears to be a plastic trunking running below the cupboards with the spotlights mounted within, I assume this contains the power for the lights. Is it as simple as just connecting into this power supply or will I have to run a seperate feed to the power board under the seats.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Carl,

If there is already provision made for fitting a radio/cd, all the required cables will be ready plummed in with universal connectors fitted. There should be a rectangular cutout ready to receive the unit but youmay have to purchase a universal metal holder from the likes of Halfords, to fit in the apperture to secure the radio, the pull the cables through and connect to the corresponding connectors on the radio, slide the unit in, switch on, thats it. Job takes about 10 minuets topps. So dont ask the dealer to do it, probably charge you a small fortune! you could spend that money on a hitch lock or something!!

Tankies right, if the speakeras are already fitted, so should the wiring.

Look in the brochure for the caravan and it should say that it fitted with the wiring kit ready for a stereo.

We bought a car radio/CD player from Halfords and found them very helpful in advising how to fit it, without using their technicians. We, or rather my other half, fitted it in less than 10 mins and he is not in the least technically minded.

All the wiring was in the van but the previous owner had removed the radio/cd player, I went to Halfords to purchase a new one they included free fitting but when I told them it was in a caravan they said they would not fit it. I asked in that case how much discount would I get against them not fitting it, surprise surprise NONE.

No Halfords won't fit a radio in a caravan but .............

You don't need Halfords to fit the radio/CD. If the wiring is there then you will have no problems fitting it yourself! Just follow the instructions in the box. As I said my husband is not technically minded but he fitted our in less than 10 minutes. It was just a matter of matching up the 'pin plugs' on the radio itself and placing the radio in the 'housing' provided in your 'van.

Hope you get on OK.
