Censorship.

As a relative newcomer to the forum I'd like to know who decides what may not be posted and reasons for non-acceptance. I tried to post comments critical of a local dealer without naming him but was unable to make the submission although this particular dealer would be most unlikely to advertise in ANY magazine if that was the reason - just the local free ads paper.

Rob - as good as this site is - it is a site linked to a commercial enterprise that relies on advertising.

If a business venture is "attacked" - those that advertise often get twitchy as they feel they could be next.

Censorship? - Well yes it is.

But you have to ask yourself, would you advertise with any third party that allowed others to publicise negative comments on your profession/trade/livelihood?

Don't worry about it Rob, I put a comment telling the world what I thought about some scumbags that nicked a caravan, injuring one of the owners in the process and that was removed in this Politically Correct madness we live in. My comments were valid and I still hold the same views but if you mention anything about punishments or call them horrid names-off it comes-Pathetic!

On that point I am right with you Merve.

It is about time that the numpties who bleat human rights every five minites realise that the victims of crime ALSO have human rights.

It is an amazing fact that a burgler on your land, in your house, stealing your property, has more "rights" than you do.

The police responce? - well round here we have been told no police will be available after 6pm.

But there are ruddy speed cameras on a "safe" bit of road ready to catch those wicked motorists.

Still you might be lucky and have one of these cameras catch your caravan as it is towed away by the cameras. But I suspect that you would have to prove it was not you towing it!

Rob I posted "Quote of the Week" from a Sunday paper. One person took exception to it so the thread was deleted. It seems its alright to read it in a national paper but not in this forum.

Thanks Clive! My job takes me all over the place and I get talking to many people of all (dare I mention it!) CLASSES. It is amazing how many people(100%) want some real punishment back! They are sick of this namby pamby approach to crime and punishment. But we seem to be a Nation caught like a rabbit in the headlights of a car- paralyzed for fear of what people might think! If these wreckers of peoples dreams had to face real, and I mean real punishment instead of community service orders or probation then they would think twice about it! God, if I'm ever in charge they better watch out!

If you where unable to post the comment then it would not have been moderated. It needs to actually be on the forum before a moderator can delete it.

So, did it post and then dissapear or did the message refuse to post when you clicked submit? if its the latter, its not been moderated at all

Steve is right. When you post a message, it will appear immediately on the forum. If yours did not appear, then there was a fault somewhere along the line.

There are 3 moderators regularly checking new posts. We operate within the published forum etiquette rules as well as a liberable dose of common sense.

Whenever possible, if we take the step of removing a post, we try to send the poster a personal email explaining why. Obviously on those occasions when a thread has deteriorated into an unseemly argument and the whole thread has been deleted, sending individual emails to all contributors may not be viable.

With such a wide variety of personalities and opinions on a forum like this, whatever we do we will never please everyone. We are all 3 of us volunteer enthusiastic amateur caravanners doing our best. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Hi Steve,

"Submit" disappeared when clicked on.
