Hi all

I have been looking at spending a couple of weeks this year at a fairly remote Certified Location and after having a look at a couple of these sites was wondering how secure they were. Even if you have a wheel clamp / hitchlock etc what are the chances of having the van broken into or just plain vandalised? I have driven up to and around and over a few sites now to see what they are like and have never been stopped or challenged. Any advice or experiences would be helpful

Thanks

I have used them many times over the years without problem but I am concerned that you say you have driven etc around some without being challenged, it is common courtesy that you do not enter such sites without first seeking permission from the owner, who understandably would be very unhappy to find you there.Think how you would feel if someone just walked up and went around your garden.

I would add to your comments re unwanted visitors , we welcome people to have a look at our CL before booking, but would not be happy to have them wandering about without first asking if they can. we keep the gate closed and locked our visitors are given a key. But when it comes to security it really is up to the individual to take whatever precautions they think fit.

David, is your CL on the Armcher DVDs?
Lord B

Yes we are the first one Armond did. before all this started he spent alot of time with us. I believe he and his wife are wintering in Spain doing the same thing with Spanish sites.

I think CLs a safe as they are often close to and accessed right passed the owners home. also if a saw a strange car approach a caravan and people start to hitch up i'd go and ask if they were friend of the owners.

similary if my inlaws take over our caravan after we've had a few days i inform the owner whats going on so they are expecting a change of cars!

I don't know how secure CLs are but the're certainly popular. I have just booked a CL in the peak district for the Easter w/e. It was the 14th one I phoned, the first 13 were full! I did want EHU and dogs allowed so that cut down my choice of CL somewhat.

Davids' site looks lovely....we will visit soon!!
Wendy

We would love to see you but please not on a bank holiday, or June we hope to be away. really our cl is the corner of a meadow

in the next field we have found flints that have been worked I have been told by those who know that the travelers that worked these flints could have walked to France. We are all

visitors when it comes to time.

Chrisbee - We're going to a CL in the Peak District for Easter - gonna be busy then? Which one are you going to?
Hi Janet & Jason

Made the mistake of letting the lady wife draw up the list of CL's in order of priority. We are booked at Grange Farm which I don't think is actually in the peak district! Never mind, it's close enough and at least she can't complain (to me) if it doesn't meet her expectations ! I said in another thread that I was more likely to get to my destination if she was asleep rather than navigating, I rest my case.
