Changing 70AH Battery for a 110AH

Hi all

Just returned from trip with battery problem, had to use switch on main panel to turn off water pump. when nothing switched on meter needle stayed on green, turn pump on and it went nearly to red and the pump stayed on, hence switching it off on the panel, the needle then returned to green.

I did use a battery charger to fully charge the battery before our previous outing and had no problems.

The question is, as I am having the battery tested tomorrow can it simply be replaced with the 110AH and what are the benefits if any?

Any response will be greatly received thanks in advance,

Kev

Hi,

Pro's and cons,

110amp is heavier and dearer and you will have to check it will fit your battery box.(some will not fit)

110amp will give greater capacity if you are not on a hook up.

Its as simple as that.

Hope this helps

the physical size is the important factor. Manufacturers sizes can be misleading. I bought an Electosol 110 this summer and according to the brochure it was too wide. Wasn't! It has a foot on it that sticks out that added to the width but this went under the strap housing and so it fitted. Watch the height as well because if your wires are long they generally fit on top of the battery. With some it can be difficult to fit them in. Use a dealer who will swap it if it doesn't fit. If you are doing anything other than odd nights off hookup or have a mover a 110 is much better.

Thanks for your responses chaps

Had the battery tested today and yes it has had better days.

As I wont be using the van again this year think I'll get a new one just before the annual service early next year, thanks again.
