Hi all.

I'm a newbee to caravaning just bought a 1987 Avondale Leda Quantock. And on our first outing i forgot to raise the jockey wheel high enough (doh)so on our way out of the site the jockey wheel hit a speed bumb and cracked the wheel (why do they make them plastic).Maybe a silly question but if you don't ask and all that.

Cheers Bob.

Your tyre should have an aluminium bearing tube which has a retaining lip, just knock that lip down and pull out the tube - the wheel should release.

Replace the wheel and the bearing tube.

If the wheel was made with a solid metal core - and you can buy these - then instead of the wheel failing when you do something dumb, the wheel would survive but something further up would then fail - and be much more expensive to replace.
