Checking the charge in the caravan battery

Can anyone please recomend a meter for checking the charge in a caravan battery? We have a caravan with a mover, which has been stored next to our house over the winter. The internal voltmeter on our Coachman can be unreliable, so I would like to purchase a purpose made product - don't want to start the new season with a flat battery.

Many Thanks

Bernard

Just buy a cheap multi-meter for 12v reading as previous post suggests.

I have also marked line on my Caravan meter to show where the fully charged line (Green) and half discharged line (Red) with marker pen for quick check.

I keep mine on the drive at home and leave it on a smart charger (CTEK 3600) which ensures the battery is kept in A1 condition.

As said a cheap multimeter is all that's required and you can get one suitable for this type of read for as little as

Agree with Clockwork a meter is no use at all- eight torch batteries will give twelve volts but wont move your van !

The cheapest way to check is with a hydrometer specifically for batteries. Just had a look on E-Bay and they are a couple of quid.
