Children and Dogs

I was so sad to see the previous posting that a dog attacked a 5 year old child and I sincerely hope the little boy is making a good recovery. As before, and obviously, not all dogs are nasty and it is difficult for a child to know which dog is likely to bite or be happy to be stroked. However, dogs are usually tied up on sites adjacent to the caravan which is a rule on most caravan sites and this is to protect children from being attacked (or adults for that matter!). Please, please, can parents ask their children not to run up to the dogs if they are tied up, after all, the dog owners are following site rules, and surely it would help if small children were supervised and watched by their parents? What if it had been a car that the child had run in front of while the parents wern't with their young 5 year old? We must all work together to keep small children safe, and I am pleased that responsible dog owners do actually tie their dogs up and not just let them wonder all over sites, or other peoples pitch space and allow people privacy, we must also all work together to keep a watchful eye on our young children, we simply can't arrive on a site and think it is everyone else's responsibility to watch over our children, if they are young enough to run onto other peoples pitch space and approach a tied up dog, then they need protecting, next time it might not be a dog, it could be a lorry or something far more dangerous!

Same as the 'dog attack' thread, nothing to see...move along now.
