It never ceases to amuse me how some people moan about the content of television these days. I don't mind crude humour either and indeed, some of the old shows in their latter days had their own saucy moments too, for their era. The problem is, those who complain about it are stuck in the past. Me, I've moved with the times. It's inevitable after all. And at the end of the day, as many have said, you do have control of the content you watch.

As for those who moan about and hate programs such as Eastenders, Coronation Street etc. You're in the minority. Why else are those soaps such hits and chart toppers? Because so many people DO watch them. Yes, myself and my wife too and we're not afraid to admit it. Quite often they have their funny moments and once you get stuck into it, you get drawn into the characters. It's the same with Deal or No Deal. For some reason, many people choose to hate that show yet if you were to watch it every day and get involved in the contestants lives, you'll know what I mean. You share their joy, their sorrow. It's a hit show after all so again, you're in the minority if you don't like it.

My wife's folks never used to watch it until we stayed there one night overnight and happened to watch it with us just because we watch it. Since then, they've never missed a show either.

Either way, relax. It's television. You have control.

To watch the Hidden Story of Jesus on your computer join....

http://www.channel4.com/4od/index.html?cntsrc"ppc_4od_google_4od"

You can download it to your computer and then you have 30 days to watch it. If you have broadband you can stream it to your computer and watch it. C4 have an archive where you can download programmes for free. The BBC have a similar site, download the programme and watch when it suits within 30 days.

Be aware that if you have a package with your ISP where you are limited to useage it might not be a good idea. I have unlimited so am ok.

When watching click the viewer to Full Screen and disable any screensaver because if the screensaver kicks in it goes back to small screen.

Gary - if I wanted to watch such vulgarity as the show I originally referred to I could probably find it on either one of the minority channels. video/dvd or even at some workingmen's clubs. I choose not to see these shows as I believe I am educated enough to know right from wrong regarding the type of material I enjoy. However I must pay to have TV in my house even if I disconeect the aerial and only use video or DVD - I cannot get out of the licence fee. For a service I am compelled to pay for I object to having this trash - yes I have a channel changer and an on/off switch - this means I am paying for a service I would not use. As previously stated there are good programmes on TV and I do watch them given the oppertunity. I am not in any way in a time warp as I am generally kept well up to date by my two children and two grandchildren but if crude comedy is your cup of tea then all I can say is you watch your trash and I will watch the interesting programmes.

Colin, I had to leap in here because you absolutely DO NOT have to have a licence if you only watch video or DVD, not Broadcast.

This is my situation, and I have a letter from TV Licensing confirming the position.

The licence is purely for the right to receive broadcast TV, and is not required for any other purpose.

To make it clear that I do not receive, the channels on the equipment are not tuned to the station, and there is no aerial.

Cable TV is still a broadcast, as is satellite, and so would be a transmission over the internet. However, if you download from the net at a time of your choosing, this is not a broadcast.

You are also not receiving a broadcast if you get someone to video a programe for you, then take the tape home to watch, though you are in breach of copyright (as, technically, is all home recording).

TV licensing would like you to think you need a licence just to own a TV, even if it is just in a box in the attic, but if pushed they will confirm it is as I have said.
