Civilians with speed guns

Did any see the news on Saturday. Northampshire police are training a group of residents in using speed guns in a place called Kimberley.

Points:

What happens if they get attacked, are they covered under police insurance?

Can civvys use police guns being civvies?

If they are using a gun are you entitled to stop and ask them for their name and address/police their attached too or No. as you can with the police?

Apparently, if anyone is ver the speed limited they will get a nice letter through their doors.

I could go on with points, what are your views on the subject?

The same thing was introduced at Sharpthorne in West Sussex about two years ago. Mostly manned by old women with, I suppose, time on their hands, and a lust for power in their latter years. They have all packed up long ago - I expect they got tired of the abuse hurled at them. It is almost impossible to speed through their village any way because of the residents parking habits - probably the very same old girls who took on the plod role!.
