Clarification of caravan insurance

If you are involved in an 'own fault' accident whilst towing, do you claim from your car insurance or Caravan ins. for the damage done to the van? I have separate caravan insurnace but the cover doesn't explicitly state that it insures against road incidents just the usual theft etc.

My company has authorised a tow bar and allows me to tow a caravan but if i damage the van towing, do i claim off them as they are responsible for damage caused by their driver and vehicle (even though i am the driver)?

The reason i ask is to be doubly sure that if i am in an accident and the company try and get out of it, is the van covered by its own insurance anyway???

If I understand you (and I am not sure that I do) you are asking who do you claim from if you have an own fault accident whilst towing.

It depends upon your policies (car & Caravan) but car damage would be claimable on your car insurance and Caravan damage claimable via your Caravan insurance assuming you have Comprehensive Cover and not just Third Party Cover.

Any Third Party injurred or suffering a loss would also claim from you, though I think it would be your car insurance that would pick up the tab here.
