Cleaning adhesive off carpet

I used double-sided tape to hold a mat in place on the caravan carpet but it wasn’t a success. When I removed the mat I was left with the residue of the adhesive from the tape on the caravan carpet. I have tried to remove this with spray-on carpet /upholstery cleaner, kitchen surface cleaner and washing-up liquid all to no avail. I borrowed a carpet cleaner which dispensed a spray which was then vac’d up by the machine but no joy.
I have thought about using meths or even white spirit but before I do would like to ask if anyone has had this problem and found a solution.

Have you tried some of this sticky stuff remover :lol:

You can also get it in an aerosol

Have used it on various things & it always dose what it says on the tin 😉

Thanks Sproket for the tip. It has done the job.
Once again the PC forum has come up trumps!
By the way, I went into the link you gave me but whilst looking around the internet came upon Lakeland. I thought it would be a waste of time looking but opened it it and guess what? they were the cheapest at £3.99. Luckily there is a branch near us so picked one up on Saturday.
