I need to get a new cleaner for the van and i'm trying to decide what to get - it needs to get up dog hair.

So far the choices seem to be :-

Cheap compact hand-held with turbo brush

(Like home-tek hunter)

Manual Carpet sweeper (Can these manage dog hair) ?

Rechargable - Carpet Sweeper (ditto pet hair).

Dyson Rechargeable - ouch - price is ouch.

Anyone have any experience of the cheaper options (I know - the dyson lasts for about 6mins and is good) - but ouch the price (Have i said it's expensive :) )

We use a 'hand held' plug-in Hoover in the caravan. No worries about the thing running low halfway through the cleaning! It seems to cope well with the pet hairs, although a quick wipe down with rubber gloves will also do the trick!

Hi,

I have two dogs, and we tried both a manual, then a rechargable carpet sweeper and both were hopeless. We then bought a dyson rechargable - expensive but fantastic - so fully recommend.

Good luck!

just a note on the dyson rechargeable , it only last 6 minutes and literally cuts out.

It is good and does get the hairs up very well (we've also got a dyson cylinder at home and it is worth the money).

You might want to check out the new dyson baby , weighs in at about 7kg but its

We have two hairy Springer Spaniels. Last year we bought a Dyson rechargable. It does a brilliant job and the 6 minutes continuous run time is plenty enough although I would prefer say 10 mins. The hair pick up is excellent but it is not cheap. You pays your price etc.

Cheers

We use a normal Tesco cheapie and then once a month use the home Dyson to give it a good going over. Cheaper than spending a fortune on another Dyson.

We have had several cleaners but just invested in a dyson dc16 animal - best money we have spent, it does a fantastic job and 6 mins is long enough we have a bailey carolina and clean the van no problem.

I haven't considered a vacuum yet for the van for pet hair, I do have a rubber broom which can be excellent however, I got mine out of Kleeneze, I questioned how effective it would be at first but it's sometimes better than vacuuming the carpets. A turbo brush would be a must if I was considering a vacuum cleaner. I ha ve a Dyson animal for home so will probably go for something similar.
