Having sterilized my fresh water system twice every year,I had to remove a pipe and found it was coated on the inside with slime. How do i remove it? Would bleach or vinegar be o.k? or could it do damage to the water heater.Has anyone any success,or has nobody actually seen inside the pipes? Thanks for any suggestions. Maria.

How do you normally sterilize your van ? and how long do you leave it in for before flushing it thru with more clean water ? i use milton & never had a problem, there is puriclean aswell,

I have just found this:

Disinfect the system

Using a ratio of cp. household bleach to every 15 gallons of water, fill your tank accordingly. Pre-mix water and beach in a gallon container before adding to tank. (Do not add bleach directly into tank) Fill tank to its capacity.

Turn the water pump on, and open all taps until you smell bleach from each tap. Close all faucets and let solution sit in system for 12hrs.

Flush system

Drain system as you did at the beginning of this procedure. Re-fill fresh water tank and run system until you no longer smell bleach. Be sure to open all taps to ensure there is no bleach solution remaining in the lines.

Your system is now cleaned and ready for use.

Dont know if it will work ?

i use milton twice a year for ours without a problem.there are a few tiny bits of slime that cannot be removed without taking the pipes off but after cleaning these are safe.i have used a baby bottle brush pulled through on string on the filler pipe.just trim a bit off the brush bristles until it fits.if you brew your own beer you can use the bottle and pipe cleaner.

Thanks both for your replies. There is no problem ,unless you look inside the system.I have sterilised correctly every 6 months, but after ten years the slime, even if sterile, has built up.i shall try bleach, which will certainly clear it. THANKS,Maria.

Hi

I have always used miltons twice a year to give the water system a clean out

I fill an aqua roll with fresh water and add half a dozen miltons tablets. Then run it through the system and once you have a good run of water through you van at that bath room and kitchen i switch off all taps and leave it in the pipe work for an hour or two. Then empty the aqua roll flush it out with fresh water and then run two aqua rolls through the system and then thats it all clean and ready to go

If you have an onboard filter i recommend that you change it after you use Milton. Stops you getting a funny taste in your tea.
