Hi. We are looking to order a 2010 coachman amara 640..we have had a good offer on one but I am wandering if anyone knows if you would save money by going to the caravan show in Birmingham and buying one from there....do you get good bargains like they promise you?

Coachman prices are set to rise for the 2010 models. Lawns show may be your best starting place. Much of the show deals we have seen centre around extra equipment which depending on your use you may not even want. we usually buy at the end of the season more, sort of now for a 2009 model, not always the best of choices locally but a deal to be had as dealers make way for the new stock.

Hi Wendy

Only just seen your post as only joined last week.

We have just purchased the Coachman Amara 640 at the Lawns last month. We found that we got a great deal, better than at the caravan dealer. We also saved on the Vat. So i would deffinateley recommend buying at the Nec show next month.

When you go to the show be prepared to bargain. Set one manufacturer against another. You would be surprised at what you can achieve.

yeah, one time good deals were in abundance, not so much now.market for new vans are bouyant, its second hand vans they need, but most are not prepared to go overboard like they used to in part exchanging when they used to throw everything in but the kitchen sink..

there mark up on a new van has been cut by manufactures, and incentives at shows to sell have been curtailed.hence there profit now is in getting your van as cheap as they can.

We went to Highbridge all prepared to try and do a deal on a Coachman Amara 570/6 (we currently have an Amara 560/6 2007 model) and picked it apart so much we came away happy to keep our current caravan. Has anyone else noticed that while they list all the "New" features they have added this year, they fail to tell you what they have sacrificed in return. We looked at everything we could think of, and found that they have got rid of the opening window in the one piece door, they have removed the privacy curtain around the dinette in the rear bedroom, they changed the end bolster cushions to cheaper ones since we bought ours! Although we love Coachman, we came away quite disappointed with what they class as their "best ever" Amara, when you consider that the price has risen by about 20% in 3 years (well over inflation!) Now we don't know what to do!

They have had to become contemporary to keep up with what the majority of buyers want, however agree with you especially the Baileyesque plastic corners. However our 560 will have to go soon as our 5 year old says the bunk is too shut in, ditto 570 and 640, we are now looking at downsizing to the 520 but going up to the VIP to get everything we want, led's etc, but with laser upholstery to get the comfort back again

You could try looking at the dealer specials as well to up the spec the wanderer I looked at yesterday has pastiche/vip style bolsters etc without the tacky metalic trim on the units.

Good luck, I have told coachman that as an 80's child I want to see some more floral upholstry and pink draylon curtains, after all that's what I grew up with. Was told it will oprobably be back one day!

Went to the NEC on Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised by the 2010 Coachman Amara Kimberley 570/6 special edition, so just had to go for it!! It is much nicer fabric and colours than the Coachman Amara 2010 (the Coachman MD Jim Hibbs was nearby at the time and I nearly had the guts to tell him his soft furnishings weren't up to previous years standards IMHO!! Wish I had now!) Early days yet, but the dealers (Kimberley Caravans Nottingham)seemed to be really nice, helpful and friendly, and are fitting an extra mirror (at ladies height in the washroom) and a privacy curtain around side dinette, so very pleased.
